2008 MASONRY SKILLS CHALLENGE
An event of this magnitude could not and would not have been such a huge success without the support of volunteers and contributions from both suppliers and contractors. The purpose and mission of this Association is to make the industry better. These competitions are not only exciting for the participants but for the contractors as well.

Ohio SkillsUSA State Competition
Seventeen students from around the state competed for the top prize, a trip to the nationals.  Sponsors of the event were Oberfield’s Inc., Belden Brick, The Quikrete Companies, Marshalltown, Crick Tool,  Wayne Builders Supply, and Moser Construction Company. Donations included building materials, tools, complimentary promotional items and cash.  Volunteer judges served from the Ohio Masonry Association, Tri-State Masonry Institute, BIA, as well as retired  bricklayers and a masonry instructor from the Akron area.  Affiliated with the National Concrete Masonry Association.

Ohio High School Competition
Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Shelby, Ohio hosted the 2008 Ohio High School masonry competition. This is the 5th year for the competition and is used as a warm-up to the state SkillsUSA finals. Dave Rader from Pioneer hosted the event that was well attended. Pictured below are the Junior and Senior finalists and pictures of the competition.
